Hop-on hop-off suits a first overview; a fixed cruise gives you the commentary in one go.
The hop-on hop-off boat and many archipelago tours run from spring to autumn only.
If you also want museums, the pass usually beats separate bus and boat tickets.
Two companies run hop-on hop-off buses in Stockholm. Strömma's green buses and the red City Sightseeing buses are one product: 15 stops, a 55-minute loop, 24- or 72-hour tickets from €32, and they are included in the Go City pass. Red Sightseeing is a separate company with its own buses and boats, and it is not in the pass.
On the water, the two classic tours are Strömma's Under the Bridges of Stockholm (2 hours 15 minutes) and the one-hour Royal Canal Tour around Djurgården. Strömma's hop-on hop-off boat runs only in summer. All three are in the Go City pass.
The bus is useful on a first day to get your bearings or to save your feet between Djurgården and the centre. For getting from A to B, an SL ticket and the Djurgården ferry are cheaper.
Strömma's hop-on hop-off boat stops at the Royal Palace, Nybroplan, the Vasa Museum, Skeppsholmen, Djurgården, the cruise terminal, Fotografiska and Slussen. A loop takes 55 minutes. It runs from 27 May to 12 September 2027, every hour early and late in the season and every 30 minutes from mid-June to the end of August. Tickets for 24 or 72 hours start at €22. There are no outdoor seats and no room for strollers.
Strömma's tours with the Go City pass cannot be booked ahead: you swap the pass for a ticket at a Strömma kiosk at Strömkajen or Nybrokajen on the day.
Stockholm's archipelago starts just east of the city. The easiest trips:
SL tickets are also valid on Waxholmsbolaget's commuter boats to Vaxholm, the cheapest way out if you do not need a guide.
The Go City All-Inclusive Pass covers the Strömma and City Sightseeing hop-on hop-off buses, Strömma's hop-on hop-off boat, Under the Bridges, the Royal Canal Tour, the City Hall canal tour, the boats to Vaxholm, Fjäderholmarna and Drottningholm, and longer archipelago tours. Red Sightseeing, the food cruises and the RIB speedboat are not included. If you take two boat tours and the bus over two days, the pass usually pays for itself before you enter a single museum. It is worth it on a first day to get your bearings or to save walking between Djurgården and the centre. The Strömma and City Sightseeing buses cover 15 stops in a 55-minute loop. For simple transport, an SL ticket is cheaper.
The Go City pass covers Strömma's green buses and the red City Sightseeing buses, which run as one product with 15 stops. Red Sightseeing is a separate company and is not included.
Under the Bridges of Stockholm takes 2 hours 15 minutes from Strömkajen, under 12 bridges and through the lock between the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren. It runs daily from March to December.
Strömma's hop-on hop-off boat runs from 27 May to 12 September 2027, with 8 stops and a 55-minute loop. It does not run in autumn and winter.
For a first visit, the Royal Canal Tour shows Djurgården in one hour, and Under the Bridges covers the whole city in 2 hours 15 minutes. For the archipelago, the 30-minute boat to Fjäderholmarna or the trip to Vaxholm are the easiest.
Many are: the Go City pass covers Under the Bridges, the Royal Canal Tour, Strömma's hop-on hop-off boat and boats to Vaxholm, Fjäderholmarna and Drottningholm. With the pass you collect the ticket at a Strömma kiosk on the day.
Yes, on some. The Djurgården ferries 80 and 82 and Waxholmsbolaget's commuter boats within the SL zone accept SL tickets. Sightseeing tours like Under the Bridges need their own ticket or the pass.
Strömma's boats leave from Strandvägen: the steamship S/S Stockholm takes 1 hour 30 minutes and M/S Cinderella II 50 minutes. Waxholmsbolaget's commuter boats also go there and accept SL tickets.

Hop on and off between the islands or take a fixed cruise through the canals.
